This collection is comprised of over 200 items pertaining to the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Included are many unique letters and photos of the University as well as items related to Virginia from the Colonial period thru the 20th century. Examples include an original printing of the site report evaluating where UVA was to be placed in the state, a Monticello slave-related document, letters from Confederate soldiers who left UVA to join the war, a very rare document from the UVA infirmary during the Civil War, many letters from students and professors, and colonial Virginia currency.
