Offered is a really nice early document from Swanzey/Swansey MA dated 1707. It is in VG condition, usual folds. Measures approx 5 x 7 1/4. "To the Honoured Court of the Quarter Sessions for the County of Bristol Whereas Richard Hail junr of Swanzey desires of the Selectmen that he may Retail Strong drink our of doors we judging him to be a man of good Converstaion and well Quallified for such an undertaking knowing there is no more Licenced to sell drink our of doors in this town judg it Convenient and therefore we give our approbation if the Honoured Court think fit to gran him his request" Signed by Joseph MASON and William Anthony Selectman.

Unusual document from Topfield, Sept 1765 "The Committee Bill for Schooling and Boarding from Mach (sic) 14th to June 16 1765" and signed by the representative for the committee. Good condition, about 6 by 4 inches. Great gift for the school teacher.

This is an 1802 Virginia Property tax Bill Paid in Kanawha County, Virginia (now West Va) owned by General George Washington. Payment is made by Lawrence Lewis, nephew of George Washington and Executor of his Estate. Lewis was married at Mt. Vernon and he inherited part of the land at Mt. Vernon. Great association item. About 8 inches by 5 inches, in generally very good condition and quite attractive.

This is a nice French and Indian War period document regarding Thomas Hancock (not signed by Thomas Hancock), the uncle of John Hancock. From Boston, 1708, being a receipt for money borrowed from Hancock for the Secretary of the Earl of Loudoun and signed by James Flood. Depicts business matters that reflect the wealth of the Hancock family. About 6 inches by 6 inches, in generally very good condition, with small loss of paper not affecting any words.

French and Indian War 1761 marching order On His Majesty's Service from Lt Col Jonathan Hoar to Capt. Joshian Thatcher at Yarmouth, MA. Orders handed down from the British Colonial Governor, Francis Bernard, were to march with all troops raised to SPringfield for muster on the 9th of July by appointee of General Jeffrey Amherst. About 8 by 6 1/4 inches with some fold weakness. Remnant of war seal on back side. "Boston June 24, 1761/ Sir: In consequence of htis date you are hereby directed to march as soon as possible with the Troops rais'd by your subalterns for Springfield where you are to be appointed by Gen. Amherst. You are to be mustered the 9th of July. You are further directed to have your billeting roll in readiness to prevent any unnecessary delay after your arrival in Springfield: You have for your subalterns ....? I have not heard of your number of men rais'd therefore would have you if you have not completed a Company Tally with one of your officers if you think proper and recruit till further orders. Your Humble servant J. Hoar. French and Indian War documents are desirable and quite rare.
